Who is Jesus?

Are you looking for something in life? Do you fill that you have no purpose in life? Maybe you believe the Bible, and you believe in Jesus, but something is missing. You may say, "I am a good person", but are you. If you are willing to be honest with yourself then we can help you find the answer. Just answer a few questions honestly. Have You ever told a lie? Now I know what you are thinking, "Everyone has told a small lie every now and then". But the truth is that if you have ever told a lie then you have broken the law of God, and you are guilty of lying.  Have you ever stolen anything? No matter how small the item, then the Bible says that you are a thief. Have you ever looked at someone with lust in your heart? Jesus said that is the same as committing adultery. The truth is we have all sinned, "As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. Romans 3:10.

 Now the great news is that though you are guilty and should punished by death, Jesus died in your place. He took your punishment and He has given you the opportunity to be redeemed. Jesus went to the cross and died a terrible death, and then arose from the grave so that you and I could have the power to defeat sin in our lives. All we have to do is accept Him and repent. Repentance is when you are truly sorrowful for the sins that you have committment and you ask Jesus to forgive you with the full purpose of living for Him. South Decatur Church of God's Vision Statement

Our statement of faith is very easy, we believe we are here "To lead peopel to becoming fully devoted followers of Chirst". We believe that God has called us to carry this vision out, so it shows in everything that we do here at South Decatur. There are two major principles that you will find at work all the time here at South Decatur, CONNECTION AND INVOLVEMENT.

CONNECTION--We believe that it is our duty to make sure that every person that comes through our door connects with others in the church. We work hard to make sure that every guest, attender, and member connects with those around them in the church. People are looking for a place where they belong and feel that they connect with other people and that is what they will find at South Decatur. From the minute they walk through our doors we want them to feel that they belong and we will work deligently to keey them connected.

INVOLVEMENT--We believe that every person has a purpose in life, and we want to do everything that we can to make sure that you find your purpose. Our goal is for everyone to be involved in what is going on in the church. Through ministry, disciplship, and friendships we want people to feel that they have accomplished something for the kingdom of God. We work hard to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to do what God has called them to do. If you would like to be invovled you can download a ministers application.

Membership Information

Here at South Decatur we are a growing church with people joining all the time. We are a community of believers that has love for people and for God. We are alway looking for people whohave a heart for God and want to be a part of something larger than themselves. If you have visited our church and are interested in being a part of the South Decatur family then feel free to download our members booklet and set up an appointment with Pastor Jay. Though we do not say that you have to be a member to go to heaven, we do believe that membership has it priviledges.
