Other Ministries of South Decatur

At South Decatur we believe that every member has a ministry. That God has a calling on the lives of all those that know Him. Therefore we believe that it is the duty of the local church to help people find their calling and plug them into ministry. Here are a few of the ministries that you can get involved in at South Decatur. 

One of the heart beat of South Decatur are our Life Groups. These are small groups that meet weekly at the church to discuss all sort of issues. We offer different groups and different topics throughout the year in six to eight week sections. These are great for discipleship and getting to know people in the church. Groups meet for Life Night (Wed) @ 6:30pm and Sunday Morning at 9:45am. 

This is a team that cares for the needs of those in the church. The Care Ministry is one of the newest ministries of South Decatur. The ministry is about making sure that everyone in the congregation is taken cared of. This team makes hospital visits, calls shut ins, visits the sick, and make sure that no one falls through the cracks. 

 The Doorkeepers ministry is all about making everyone who visits South Decatur feel welcome. The ministry takes pride in seeing that our guests are made to feel comfortable from the moment they drive up, until well after they leave. This Team makes sure that guest find they way around the facilities and know what is going on and have all the info that they need. They also have a Guest Dinner once ever six week where all of our guest are treated to a very special dinner. At this dinner guest can relax and get to know more about the church or just fellowship.

Outreach has to be the heart of any good church and we believe it is the heartbeat of South Decatur. Our desire is to help those who are in need and be able to share the gospel with them in the process. Our Outreach team does all kinds of events throughout the year to reach out to the community around us. We are a community church and in order to be that we must help those in our community.  Each year we help families by providing dinners and gifts the holidays. We have a back pack promotion that we do every year just before school starts to help students in our community.

Some of the hardest working people at South Decatur are our Ushers and Greeters. From the moment our guest drive up there is someone to meet them at every door. This team makes sure that every guest and regular attendee has the best worship experience that they can. From helping people find a sit, to showing them where the nursery and kids church is our ushers are alway watching for ways that they can help people have a better experience at South Decatur.

At South Decatur we believe that coming to church should be fun and one of the way in which we do this is through sports. Our Softball ministry has brought in over 10 new families in the last couple of years. Through fun, fellowship, and prayer we believe that we can show people that serving God can be a a lot of fun. South Decatur's Men's Ministry

Band of Brothers is a ministry that meets to deal with men and help them become all that they can be. We have once a month meetings over breakfast where we have devotion and discuss upcoming events. We also do community mission projects as well as fun activities outside the church. This is a great ministry for men of all Ages.

Young at Heart

At South Decatur we could never forget the ones that pay the price for all of us to be here. The Young at Heart is a ministry that caters to the needs of those that are retired. The Young  at Heart ministry has monthly meetings as well as trips to interesting places where they enjoy fellowship and fun. They also have a prayer group and work in the church.
